Gen. J. R. "Jack" Dailey, a retired U.S. Marine Corps four star general and pilot, assumed the duties of director of the Smithsonian´s National Air and Space Museum in January 2000. Since assuming his position, Dailey has led efforts to expand the size and scope of the museum and increase public outreach. In 2003, in conjunction with the Centennial of Flight, the museum opened a second building, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va.
Wayne Clough is the 12th Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Clough envisions a new era for the Institution, expanding the Smithsonian´s global relevance and helping the nation shape its future through research, education and scientific discovery on major topics of the day.
Christine Albanel, has a degree in modern literature. Speechwriter for French President Jacques Chirac for many years, including authoring the famous Vel d´Hiv speech, she was Advisor to the French President on Education and Culture before joining the French State Council. Appointed Chairperson of the Établissement Public de Versailles in July 2003, she was Minister of Culture and Communications from May 2007 to June 2009.
Ambassador François Delattre was appointed Ambassador of France to the United States in February 2011 after serving as Ambassador of France to Canada (2008-2011), Consul General in New York (2004-2008) and Press and Communications Director at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. (1998-2002).
Robert Tate, Consul of the United States for Western France, assumed his position in Rennes on 18 August 2011. Robert Tate joined the State Department in 2003. First assigned to Osaka, Japan as vice-consul, where he had the pleasure of serving as an official American representative at the World Expo in Aichi, he later served as vice-consul and third secretary for economic affairs in Bucharest, Romania from 2006 to 2008.
Dr. Kerri-Ann Jones was sworn-in as Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs on August 20, 2009. Dr. Jones joins the leadership of the U.S. Department of State after serving as an independent consultant specializing in strategic planning and the development of research and education portfolios. Her most recent position in federal government was as Director of the National Science Foundation´s (NSF) Office of International Science and Engineering (2002-2005).
Michael N. Geselowitz is Senior Director of the IEEE History Center. Immediately prior to joining IEEE in 1997, Mike was Group Manager at Eric Marder Associates, a New York market research firm, where he supervised Ph.D. scientists and social scientists undertaking market analyses for Fortune 500 high-tech companies. He is also a registered Patent Agent.
David Richards joined the Margaret Chase Smith Library staff as assistant director in 1996 and became interim director in 2012. Prior to his appointment at the library, David served as executive secretary of the Androscoggin Historical Society in Auburn, Maine, and curator of collections at the United Society of Shakers in New Gloucester, Maine.
James Schwoch is the Senior Associate Dean for the School of Communication at Northwestern University in Qatar, and Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University. He has published five books to date, most recently Global TV: New Media and the Cold War, 1946-69 (Illinois, 2009) and also published many articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, and essays. Schwoch´s next book, currently in production with Rutgers University Press, is a co-edited volume with Lisa Parks (UC-Santa Barbara) titled Down To Earth: Satellite Industries, Technologies and Cultures. His research and teaching areas include global media, media history, diplomacy and international relations, and global security.
Patricia Cooper joined the Satellite Industry Association as its President in November 2007 with more than 17 years in the satellite industry and in government. As President, Ms. Cooper is SIA´s lead representative for government services, regulatory, legislative, homeland security, export control and trade issues of critical importance to the Association´s members.
Dr. Brazil David is the Director of Legal Affairs at the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization. Dr. Brazil David holds Ph.D in Laws and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) and has a number of publications in leading law reviews. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English and has intermediate abilities in French.
Mr. Thierry Guillemin is responsible for Intelsat terrestrial and space segment infrastructure design, development and operations. This encompasses satellite fleet planning, spacecraft definition, procurement, launch and in-orbit operations, terrestrial network engineering and operations and customer support centers. He manages operation facilities in Washington, DC, Atlanta, Long Beach, California, as well as teleports around the world and program management teams at spacecraft construction sites in the United States and Europe.
Bart Palmer has been CTO of GlobeCast Americas since December 2011, in charge of managing, deploying and developing GlobeCast´s technical facilities as well as satellite and terrestrial infrastructure. A broadcast industry veteran of over 30 years, Mr. Palmer has seen and been a part of the changes that have come to industry over that time. Prior to joining GlobeCast he was Senior Vice President of Global Media Engineering at Discover Communications.
